The Waxing Crescent and the Hierophant 5th July 2011

Posted by tarotlive on July 5, 2011 at 4:14 PM Comments comments (0)

I'm starting today with a quick note regarding yesterdays blog about planting by the Moon. Have a look at this link Planting By The Moon This sight gives a full calendar to planting by the Moon and a full description and guidance to the different methods. also have a look at the discussion forum where you will find a very interesting discussion on the subject.

On today 5th of July the moon is now 23% full with only three days to the first Quarter Moon when spiritual thoughts are at the forefront.

5.The Hierophant, known origionally in the ancient Tarot as The Pope offers spiritual Guidance and Wisdom. As a person, the Hierphoant is conventional and stands for tradition, faith, knowledge and good advice. A symbol of moral law anda b ack to basics approach. Learn from the recent events of the past and deal with legal matters now. Thoughts of Marraige and comittment weigh heavy on many minds tonight. In the seekers quest the desire for legally binding bonds causes a crisis of faith, a person of good standing in the community is on hand to give measured advice, readying the seeker for a mature relationship and steering the seeker away from rash actions and irrational behaviour. When dealing with legal disputes look carefully at the facts and take qualified advice before signing anything.

Your first goals start to be realised as the Moon moves towards the 1st Quarter

Do you remember my blog about Cosmic Ordering a few days ago? It’s working! Last night a friend called out of the blue telling me that Brad Pitt will be filming in Glasgow this summer. “Oh yes, very nice but what’s that gotto do with me?” They’re casting for extras this weekend. Well I did ask for an opportunity to come out of the blue…

I applied for casting last night and have just received a casting call for Saturday! I’ve never acted in my life, have absolutely no experience and never thought of doing anything like this before but it sounds like fun so I’m going along to see what happens. This Waxing Crescent Moon is living up to her reputation as a time of new opportunities!

Back to the story of our seeker The Fool as he carries on through his quest:

As the Moon moves towards the first quarter our seeker the Fool meets his earthly parents the Empress and Emperor.

Numbered 3 in the Major Arcana, The Empress is all about fulfilment, she is motherhood and the abundance Mother Nature. She promises fertility, love, marriage, motherhood and promises happy stable relationships. As a person she is an earth mother who gives you the support you need, she may also herald pregnancy.

Numbered 4 in the Major Arcana, The Emperor stands for authority, material success and stability. As a person he’s an ambitious high achiever who likes a settled and comfortable family life. He will stand by you and support you both in personal as well as businesslife.

The 3’s and 4’s in the Tarot also stand for strong foundations, celebration of the first phase of a job well done, relationships settling and becoming stronger, rest and recuperation  and financial stability with more work to do and risks still to be taken. As the moon moves towards the first quarter things become clearer and we can see how we will achieve our goals. By then end of this week there will be time to take stock, celebrate our initial achievements and consider the next move.

Growing under the Waxing Crecent

Posted by tarotlive on July 3, 2011 at 10:01 AM Comments comments (0)

The Waxing Crescent Moonnd sets after sunset; it is only seen in the night sky for a short time after the sun goes down.

As the waxing crecent moon is all about growth, fertility and abundance, this Sunday 3rd July 2011 is a good day to plant late seeds under the Waxing Moon. Christmas new potatoes will be ready to harvest from mid-October onwards if planted now.spring cabbage will be ready to harvest Next April to May 2012, winter radish will be ready from September, this is also your last chance to plant carrots, beetroot, fennel, spinach, lettuce (endive being a good variety for July) and an excellent time to start harvesting and drying herbs.

Drying Herbs

The most commonly used methods for curing herbs are air drying, silica sand drying, and heat drying. Always ensure your herbs are fresh and clean. To clean them, wash the stems in cold running water and then drain them thoroughly on paper towels.

Air Drying

The easiest way to dry herbs is toallow the leaves or entire stems to air dry at room temperature.

To dry whole branches or stems, first wash and dry them as described above. Gather 5 to 8 stems together and tie them in a bundle. Put themheads down into a brown paper bag with the stems extending out of the open end. Hang the bag upside down with the cut end of the stem facing the ceiling, in a dark, warm place (21°C to 26°C). It will take from 2 to 4 weeks for your herbs to become completely dry, depending upon temperature and moisture.

Tray drying is the method used most often for short stemmed herbs or for individual herb leaves. Gauze streached over a frame or backing tray works well, just as long as air can pass under the leaves. The trays can be stacked with blocks between them allowing air circulation. Keep the trays in a warm, dark place until the herbs are completely dry.

Silica Sand Drying

Drying herbs in silica sand is essentially the same process as for drying flowers. This method should not be used for herbs that will be utilized for cooking purposes. Silica sand, available from local building supply dealers, draws moisture out of plant tissues and leaves them in their original shapes. Any type of container can be used but they should be big enough that the herbs are not overlapping and deep enough so that the plant materials can be completely covered with sand. First wash and dry the leaves as described above. Place a shallow layer of silica sand in the bottom of the container, then arrange the herbs on top so that they do not overlap. Then cover them with more silica sand. Place the container in a warm room. It will take from 2 to 4weeks until the herbs are thoroughly dry. At that time, remove them from the container, shake off all the sand, and store them in glass jars. These are strictly for decorative purposes and not to be used in cooking, remedies or tinctures.

Best herbs to harvest this weekend:

Bee Balm is great for head colds, coughs, helps heal respiratory infections and clean nasal congestion. Make a herbal tea using 2 teaspoons of fresh herb in a cup of hot water, cover and steep. Drink 3 cups per day.

Dandelion is a restorative and rejuvenating herb. It cleans the liver andinduces the flow of bile. Dandelion is a very effective diuretic. It tones the kidneys and aids in elimination. The leaves are high invitamins and minerals, including calcium, magnesium, iron and Vitamin A and C. When harvesting dandelion, make sure it is pesticide free.

Dill relaxes and settles upset stomachs. It is very good for colic and is very highin calcium. Foods high

in calcium help prevent colon cancer ,loss of bone mass, muscle stress, and high blood pressure. For people who have difficulty digesting dairy, dill seed is a must. Dill also expels gas. Steep 1 tablespoon dill seed to 1 cup boiling water. Drink and chew seeds.

Fennel seed is unparalleled at relieving intestinal gas. This is a warming herb and can also be used for treating symptoms of head colds and respiratory congestion. Fennel also helps nursing mothers produce milk. Use 2 teaspoons per one cup of water.

Ginger is an effective remedy for indigestion and nausea. Ginger can reduce morning sickness and also motion sickness. It relieves cramps and helps the symptoms of stomach flu, sinus problems, headaches and colds. Ginger is a warming herb. If you have motion sickness, slice a little piece of root and put in your mouth before you travel. Drink a cup of tea as needed for indigestion and nausea. For colds, allergies and sinus problems, drink 3-4 cups per day. Use 3 to 4 quarter sizeroots per cup of boiling water. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.

Hot Peppers and Cayenne Peppers have been known to help digestion. They stimulate saliva and related stomach juices. Peppers also are one the best heart tonics because they tone the heart muscle.Cayenne pepper is good for colds and flu. It also stimulates the immune system. Peppers are warming herbs. Made into a salve and rubbed on the skin will soothe the pain of arthritis and sore muscles. Do not get in eyes!

Lavender soothes the nervous system and is good for depression, stress, headaches and sleeplessness. Lavender oil is good for burns and sunburn. It banishes anxiety and panic attacks and creates a sense of calm and tranquility.

2nd July 2011 New Moon Dream Diary

Posted by tarotlive on July 2, 2011 at 5:12 PM Comments comments (0)

On the second day of the New Moon on the 2nd July 2011 we can look at the Tarot Cards of New beginnings. As the Fool (you the seeker) sets out on his quest he meets his first teachers who are his spiritual parents. These are the Magician and the High Priestess.

The Magician numbered 1 is the second card of the Major Arcana as the Fool is numbered 0 (see yesterday’s blog). The Magician stands for the intellect, learning and the open enquiring mind. He has the material equipment and practical skills necessary for a very important new beginning to be successful. Today is a time for action using the abundance of potential, creativity, skill and initiative that will drive you to achieving your dreams. All the equipment is there for new ventures to be assured. You have a great reserve of power, intellect and energy; it’s now up to you to make your dreams happen.

The High Priestess is the divine feminine, feminine mystery, intuition, insight and the subconscious. She is the Spiritual wisdom, balance and power necessary for mental growth and fulfilment. She represents the power of the subconscious, your wisdom and as yet unfulfilled potential. She also represents secrets that are yet to be revealed, often in dreams.

Combining the power of the Magician and the High Priestess with the Aces and Twos of the minor arcana gives us a deeper insight into the Fools journey. Aces are successful new beginnings. The Two’s are about balance and equilibrium.

At the beginning of the New Moon consider these qualities when choosing your new path. Ensure you have the tools you need and listen to your gut. Answers will come from your dreams most strongly with the burgeoning Moon.

Keeping a dream diary is a powerful tool at any time. You may want to start a dream diary today. Keep a note book and pen next to your bed. When you wake from a dream write down your impressions, don’t dwell on it, make a quick note and scribble a drawing if you wish. At the end of the weekand again at the end of the month read through your note book, you’ll be amazed what comes from it. I also keep a Dictaphone with me during the day and when my thoughts drift I often have an idea I need to capture, this is a quick and easyway of doing this. Let me know how it goes. Sweet dreams!

The New Moon & Cosmic Ordering

Posted by tarotlive on July 1, 2011 at 3:22 PM Comments comments (2)

Now we’ve prepared for the New Moon, today 1stJuly 2011 is here and we will have a new moon in the sky tonight. Time to make things happen!

The Tarot Card relating to the New moon is the first card of the Major Arcana, The Fool. The Fool represents you at your most innocent, about to embark on a great new adventure! With the New Moon you can abandon the old ways and set off on a new path. This is a leap of faith and the beginning of a whole new life. The fool can also represent a person who may trigger your adventures, look out for a real maverick with a lust for life! At this time of new beginnings be warned that the Fool can represent a folly so becareful to look before you leap.

This is a good time to place an order with the universe, ask the Great Architect / Goddess etc for what matters most to you. Placing a Cosmic Order is a powerful way of affirming your deepest desires and manifesting them into positive actions. Just remember to be specific and be careful to ask with an open and honest start. To learn how to send your order to the Universe just click on the cosmic Ordering tab on the left of this page.

I will be placing my own order tonight. I’m keeping it to myself for now but I’ll keep you informed as to how it works out.

Whether you want to try Cosmic Ordering or you want to use the birth of the new moon to align your inner thoughts and concentrate on the positive changes you want to make this month, today is the day to start. Have fun thinking through these changes and remember. Your destiny is in your hands. x

July Moon Phase Blog preparing to break bad habits

Posted by tarotlive on June 29, 2011 at 9:12 AM Comments comments (0)

Today’s exercise on the run up to the New Moon takes advantage of the New Moon being the best time to break bad habits and change negative behaviour as this New Moon heralds a clean slate and new beginning.

As a bit of a procrastinator myself, I know it’s easy to put off today what can always be left until tomorrow. However our bad habits and negative behaviour patterns don’t bring us any joy or happiness, they drain our wealth and sap our health.

Personally I’ve been promising myself I’ll get bikini buff for months and that I’m going to deal with the insomnia that plagues me for years.

I’m not over weight but I’m not as toned as I was because I didn’t replace the dance class I used to go to when it stopped last November. Since then I’ve put on a bit of weight but most of all I’ve lost a lot of energy and the insomnia has increased. When I do some sort of exercise at least three times a week, the weight falls off, I feel much fitter and mentally I’m much happier and focused. So why have I let it slide? I’ve stopped organising my time properly. I haven’t made exercise the priority it should be and quite frankly, over the winter I was feeling lazy, over indulgent and had started believing it wouldn’t make much difference. I was soooo wrong! My clothes are a bit too tight and more to the point I want to feel good again.

So I know being unfit also adds to my insomnia. I don’t sleep well mainly because I stay up too late, don’t wind down before I go to bed and eat too close to bed time. I can make as many excuses as I like but that’s the crux of it. The insomnia has improved since I changed my bedding to anti-dust mite and allergy free bedding and bought a new Chinese pillow (which really is lovely) but I know I have to sort my sleep pattern out.

So what am I going to do about it?

1.      I’ve ordered a new work out DVD and will work out for a min of 30 mins four mornings a week before I go to work.

2.      Go rowing twice a week

3.      Join the Zumba class

4.      Being up late is a hazard of this job but from Friday my last reading will not start after 8:30pm so I get a chance to relax and get to bed before midnight.

5.      I will set a bed time for Sunday to Thursday of 10:30pm at the latest and have supper at 9pm (setting a bedtime at the weekends just isn’t going to work, a girl has to have a social life and it’s got to be realistic).

So that’s my five point plan to break bad habits and change my negative behaviour. Of course there are other things that I could change but what I want to work on are the two major areas that come to mind first.

So what are your bad habits? What negative behaviour do you have that holds you back. What can you do to be a happier, healthier, wealthier you?

I’m going to weigh myself on Friday morning before I start my work out, then I’m going to weigh myself every Friday morning. When we get to the end of July we’ll see how I’ve done. I’m also going to keep a sleep diary. If I have to write down when I go to bed etc I’ll be able to see if it is making a difference and will keep me disciplined.

Once you’ve identified your negatives, make a simple plan of what you are going to change and think about how you can measure that change so you know you are getting results. Let me know how you get on? xxx

July 2011 Moon Phases and the Tarot

Posted by tarotlive on June 28, 2011 at 12:05 PM Comments comments (5)

With July 2011 starting on the 1st with a New Moon I thought it would be interesting to walk through each night of the moon phase and how it relates to the first month of the second half of this year.

I'm starting a few days early so we can all prepare for the New Moon and the opportunities for growth, fresh starts, renewal, the end of the last phase and beginning of the next.

To prepare for the new phase starting on 1st July 2011 we need to do a bit of mental house keeping. so for todays blog we're going to consider Relationships.

Today think about your relationships at home, work and socially. Think about those that are good for you and also consider those that drain your energy. This is a good time to end bad relationships, nurture the good ones and create new ones, be they colleagues, friends or partners.

If there is someone in your life that saps your energy, takes without giving or gives you a feeling of dread when they call then it’s time to leave them in the past and move on. If someone isn’t pulling their weight, then tell them. This will give them a chance to get their act together before you make final decisions for Friday.

Relationship Health: Positive relationships give you support, lessen stress, give you a sense of well-being and the physical help we all need from time to time.

Relationship Wealth: Good relationships give you the wealth of love, joy, make you and those around you more productive and allow you time and space to do what needs to be done. Strong relationships build TRUST so you can deal with financial arrangements fairly, confidentially and with integrity, growing your mental and physical health and your emotional and material wealth.

Relationship Happiness: To be happy we need balance.Roller-coaster relationships can be exciting but do you find you spend more time in the troughs and on the peaks?

With emotional, spiritual and physical health and wealth, your relationships will bring love, joy and happiness. you will become more confident, calm and an inner glow will build and radiate attracting people on your wave length with the same strong, positive outlook. Sounds simple isn't it?

Today think about the relationships that need to end, those that need to change and those that deserve more.

Drop back for another wee exercise tomorrow.
